First Lab Response

On 10/11/11, Mrs. Rousseau's purple science class did their first science lab. The focus of the lab was to learn about osmosis and diffusion. What we did was we put a teaspoon of corn starch in a ziploc bag and and then poured 150ml of water inside. After that, we filled the container that was used to pour water halfway through and Mrs. Rousseau dropped a few drops of iodine into it. Finally, we had to submerge the ziploc bag into the water and observe the colors formed. What was supposed to happen was that the bag should've gotten a strong chemical reaction. Instead, nothing happened. Even though this experiment failed, everybody learned a lot from this experience. One thing that I learned was that water tended to move from higher concentration areas to lower concentration areas during diffusion and osmosis.
